I am very pleased to inform you that at its June meeting, the Board of Directors of Episcopal Charities voted to implement a major new initiative to support parish-based, non-sectarian outreach programs in the diocese. Please see the enclosed Request for Proposals and Proposal Application Form for details about this new funding possibility.
In brief, the Collaborataive Outreach Fund will provide funding of $75,000–$100,000 over a three year period to parishes and community-based organizations working together to provide needed social services in a local area. Funding is available for start-up program needs. The programs must be sponsored by diocesan parishes, and be non-sectarian in service delivery, consistent with the requirements of our current Basic Human Needs and Youth grants.
Completed proposals for a Collaborative Outreach Fund grant are due by 5pm on October 1, 2008. Upon receipt of an application, Episcopal Charities' Advisory Committee will review proposals and make a recommendation to the board for determination at the board's November 3, 2008 meeting. THe Advisory Committee will review the merits of the proposal, determine the neeed for the services presented, and visit and/or meet with the parties seeking the funding. A program awarded a grant under this new initiative can expect the first check disbursement before the end of the year.
Associate Director for Programs Donna Dambrot is available to answer any questions you may have about this new grant initiative, and assist you in reviewing your proposal. In addition, she will conduct a grant-writing workshop, which is mandatory for parishes planning to apply for a Collaborataive Outreach Fund, on Wednesday, September 10, 2008 from 6–8pm in Donegan Hall in Diocesan House at diocesan offices in New York City.
We look forward to receiving your proposals!
Very truly yours,
Mary Beth Sasso
Executive Director
