Would you like to provide more – and fresher – produce to the guests of your feeding program? This live webinar will be presented by Devin Juros and his father David Juros, founders of the Pleasantville Community Garden in Westchester. They will share their journey to inspire you and give you tools and advice to help you add great nutrition to your community meal or food pantry. Participants will learn to:
– Bring back a garden that has fallen into disrepair
– Start a new garden in a small space
– Rescue and redistribute fresh produce from local vendors, reducing waste
– Boost produce donations by incorporating them into special events
– Increase volunteer involvement, including from youth
Devin and David will speak from experience and give you the means to create a simple nutrition add-on to your existing program, whether you operate in an urban neighborhood, suburban town, or rural community.
The Pleasantville Community Garden started as a vegetable garden on the grounds of St. John’s Church and has expanded to three gardens, two at local schools. Organizers also gather fresh food from a local Farmers Market and at special donation events. Since its founding in 2014, the program has donated 30,000 pounds of fresh food to feeding programs in Westchester County.
