"The Church" is a nonsectarian risk prevention and intervention program designed to create meaningful learning, mentoring, and referral opportunties for precariously-living LGBTQA street youth ages 13-21, the great majority of whom are African-American or Latino/a. "The Church" has more than 600 enrolled participants; weekly participation ranges from 30 to 60 young people. Most of these young people are fleeing unsupportive families and homphobic environments in search of acceptance.
