The Grace Opportunity (GO) Project was founded in 1968 to reach out to at-risk elementary school students attending public schools in Lower Manhattan. It identifies public school students performing below grade level and helps to improve their academic performance, build self-esteem and develop essential life skills by providing year round programs that address the intellectual, social and emotional needs of children and their families. The students build basic skills in reading, writing and math and receive enrichment in computers, art, music, drama, science and physical education. The program recently added GO Families, a year-round social service program designed to empower parents in creating positive learning environments at home.
